「松尾芭蕉も上り金色堂を参拝した」と言われている「月見坂」という、樹齢300～400年あまりの立派な杉の並木が続く急な坂道を必死で登り切ると、広くて歩きやす～い参道が続く。
ちょうど「中尊寺菊まつり」の期間中でもあり、本堂や参道にはみごとな大輪の菊が並んでいた。
境内では「鹿の角」の付いた獅子をかぶり太鼓をたたきながら舞う奥州指定無形文化財「行山流 角懸鹿躍」と言う伝統舞踊も観る事ができた。
極楽浄土を現世に託した藤原3代を祭る「金色堂（撮影禁止）」は黄金色に輝く阿弥陀堂内に黄金の阿弥陀仏像が8体配置され、気の遠～くなるような職人技の漆塗りの上に夜光貝の螺鈿細工が施された見事な柱が4本、細かでみごとな職人技の装飾の数々etc・・・本当に眩いばかりの金ピカお堂。
金色堂も素晴らしかったが、奥にひっそりと佇む、かやぶき屋根の「能楽堂（平成15年重要文化財指定）」も職人技を随所に観る事ができる落ち着いた趣きの立派なお堂であった。
300余りの国宝・重要文化財を所有する境内、平成20年のユネスコ世界遺産登録は残念ながら延期となった「平泉」であるが、流石奥州きっての大寺院！整然とした広い敷地内は歩いていて非常～に気持ちが良く、匠の技、お宝満載の場所であった。
This domain appears to recieve a great deal of visitors. How do you advertise it? It offers a nice unique twist on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to give info on is the most important thing.
