この時期は1日中ほとんどどんよりとした曇り空。8月は毎日必ずとは言わないが夕方近くもしくは夜にスコールがある。午前中に雨が降る事は無いが外出時には折りたたみ傘は必須。
時折日差しが差し込むもギラギラ太陽では無く、湿度は日本の8月より低く、ギラギラ直射日光が少ない分より東京の8月よりバンコクの方が過ごしやすい。
スコールが来る前は風が強くなり次第に空が黒い雲に覆われる。家に居る（15F）と地上を歩いている時よりより「ピイュー」と言うスコールが来る前の独特の風の音を感じ、その風の音が次第に強くなり「そろそろくるぞ！」と感じる。
窓から外を眺めていると近隣で靄のような白煙が立ち込めるスコールが降る部分が所々に観うけられ、それが次第に近づいてくる様を観れて非常に面白い♪。
1年中暑い国、マスクをしているのは「重病人！」と言う意識のお国。なので今まではマスクをしている人と言えば「高速道路の料金所のスタッフ」、「警察官」と言った排気ガス予防のマスク姿しか印象に無い。
新型インフルエンザに対するバンコクは？と言うと、マスク姿はチラホラ見かける程度（小中校合わせてすでに400校以上先月休校済み）だが、妊婦さんはやはりマスクをしている人が多い。＊写真はBTS（スカイトレイン）のホーム。マスクと消毒液の売り上げは↑との事。
デパートなどの大型商業施設の入り口や利用客の多い駅の改札口には消毒薬が設置されてはいた。
知り合いのタイ人に「新型インフルエンザはどうなの？」と聞いてみると「タイ人は強いから大丈夫！」と。
日本はあまりにも過剰反応しすぎる？が、どこに居ても同じ事。やはりかかりたくは無い。外出した際はイソジンでガラガラうがい必須の日々ではある。
