
今タイも苺の季節。チェンマイ産の苺が山のように積まれているのをあちらこちらで見かけます。
タイの苺は日本の苺より濃~い赤!中も充分真っ赤だが、はっきり言って甘くない。
赤さは充分、
甘味はほとんど無いけどちゃんと苺の味。顔をしかめるほどのすっぱさでもなく「まだちょっと収穫するのには早かったね~」って感じのすっぱさ。
日本だと苺はつぶして牛乳加える派(砂糖無し)ですが、タイの苺の場合は苺そのものの自然な甘さが少ないので最後の「いちご牛乳」があんまり・・・。 なので このままいただいてます。
なれてくると甘さ(糖分)の少ない分この苺が「なんだか日本の苺を食べているよりビタミンCをいっぱい摂ってるような気になってくる私です(笑)。
粒の大きさによって値段も様々。写真の苺は12個買って50バーツ(約¥150)でした。
デパートの食品売り場にはツヤツヤとした大粒の立派な日本の苺も並んでおり、1パック500バーツ~
(約¥1500)出ていました。
